Levante UD has formally requested LaLiga to review match protocols and scheduling on days with official weather alerts. The call comes after yesterday's game against Athletic Club at the Ciutat de València was suspended due to a severe storm.

The club's chief executive, José Danvila, is preparing a letter to LaLiga president Javier Tebas. It demands reflection on the suitability of an 8:00 PM kick-off time and the suspension criteria, as fans were not informed of the cancellation until the scheduled start time. Danvila has stated that the situation requires deep analysis to improve safety and communication.

"Ante la gravedad de los acontecimientos, el consejero delegado del Levante UD, José Danvila, prepara una carta al presidente de LALIGA, Javier Tebas," the club confirmed. Security staff and club personnel acted effectively, keeping attendees in covered areas until a safe evacuation was possible. Official attendance was recorded at over 9,000 spectators, though the actual number was higher.

Measures for supporters

The suspended match will not penalise any season ticket holder in loyalty calculations. For management purposes, it will count as if the holder released their seat. Those unable to attend the rescheduled match, set for 21 October, may release their seat without penalty. Online ticket purchases will be refunded automatically within 2 to 10 business days, with no action required from the buyer.

Fans who bought tickets at the physical box office must visit the club office or email ticketing@levanteud.es with proof of purchase. Proof can include the last four digits of the card used or an indication of cash payment. The club thanked Athletic Club's fans, who travelled from Bilbao, for their exemplary behaviour, as well as the unity and serenity shown by its own supporters and staff during the incident.

Sporting context

This episode comes at a delicate time for the team, who sit 14th in La Liga with 5 points from one win, two draws and two defeats. Their last outing was a heavy 2-4 home defeat to Barcelona on 13 September. The squad must now focus on their next fixture, an away trip to face bottom-placed Villarreal on 20 September.

Forward Brugui, with three goals in four appearances, is the team's top scorer this season. Levante UD ended its statement by emphasising the values of the 'gran familia' and thanking supporters for the many messages of solidarity received after a difficult day.
