Levante UD have cleared a privileged debt of six million euros using income generated during the summer transfer window.
The team, currently sitting 11th in La Liga with five points from four games, has achieved a key financial milestone. This move is part of the Debt Restructuring Plan approved in November 2025, which allowed the club to avoid administration.
How was the Fasanara debt paid off?
The creditor Fasanara Securistation SA was owed 6.041 million euros by Levante, a figure that already included a waiver on delay interest. The deadline for full payment was September 30, 2027, with a possible extension. However, the club managed to settle this obligation in full by the close of the 2026 summer transfer window.
The funds came from four player sales. The most significant was the transfer of Carlos Espí to Real Madrid for his release clause value of 25 million euros. From that amount, five million went to Fasanara and 1.25 million to the Edmond de Rothschild Group, leaving a net sum of approximately 17.5 million for the club. The other departures were Kervin Arriaga to AEK Athens (4 million fixed plus 2 in add-ons), Kareem Tunde to West Bromwich Albion (3 million fixed plus 2 in add-ons), and Carlos Álvarez to Club América for 6 million, of which Sevilla will receive 30%.
What does it mean for Financial Fair Play and the future?
Levante's Fair Play margin was below 17.4 million in March, a figure lower than some Segunda División clubs. Sporting director Héctor Rodas had previously noted the initial margin "was only 5 million for the first team when survival was secured at La Cartuja in Seville."
This leap is vital. If the team secures top-flight status for a second consecutive season, it will qualify for La Liga's 1:1 financial rule, allowing it to reinvest a larger share of future transfer profits. The aim, according to the report, is to reorient the sporting project with a squad featuring more owned players and less reliance on loans. The club still requires a 15 million euro capital increase, which will be voted on in an Extraordinary General Assembly called by majority shareholder José Danvila.
How does it affect the market and the full squad?
The new financial breathing room arrives at a important point in the season. Levante, with five goals scored and five conceded, prepares for a tough next fixture: hosting league leaders Barcelona on September 13. The team is also dealing with the absence of Etta Eyong on the injuries list.
In the transfer market, the improved maneuverability did not prevent setbacks. La Liga rejected an attempt to loan Sergio Akieme from Stade de Reims due to late documentation, as explained by Xavi Grande, who was involved in negotiations. The club did complete loan deals for Ifeanyi Ndukwe (Liverpool) and Axel Tape (Bayer Leverkusen), and agreed a loan with an obligation to buy for Petar Ratkov (Lazio) for 14 million if certain performance milestones are met.
Settling this privileged debt closes a complex financial chapter and provides relief for the project. The team, which you can follow in the standings, now faces the sporting challenge on a more stable economic foundation. The close of the 2026 summer transfer window marks the final payment to Fasanara Securistation SA.
