Jeremy Toljan will automatically extend his contract with Levante UD until the summer of 2028. The right-back has virtually met the playing-time threshold that triggers a one-year extension clause in his current deal.
The clause required the player to feature in 50% of the team's official matches before May 30, 2027. A match counts if Toljan plays more than 45 minutes or appears in two games where he plays less than that. With 36 starts last season and six appearances so far this term, the German defender has all but secured the required number.
The player's agent, José Manuel Alemán, outlined Toljan's commitment to the club. "Jeremy Toljan did not want to transfer to Valencia because he was happy at Levante under Luís Castro," Alemán said. He added that the player is confident he will regain a prominent role under the Portuguese coach.
The extension will be confirmed if Toljan starts the return match on October 12 or features in the next two league games against Sevilla and Deportivo de La Coruña. Even if the team is eliminated in the Copa del Rey quarter-finals, the clause would activate without needing further league minutes. With the team struggling in 17th place on five points, retaining an experienced full-back provides valuable continuity.
Toljan, who joined Levante on an initial two-year deal with an optional third, demonstrated his loyalty by turning down an approach from Valencia CF. His stay bolsters a defence that has conceded 12 goals in six matches. The player, a key figure last campaign, will aim to help the team climb the standings over the long season ahead.
